hey guy
I had a customer come in yesterday that he installed the remote starter himself viper 4105v and the idatalink alca (type 1) and the car wont start.
I checked all the wiring and it looks hooked up properly and cant find any issues with the conections, the door locks are working but when pressing the remote start button the viper brain does nothing, no clicking relays, no parking light flashes, it wont even try to start its just looks to be dead, but iv never seen a bad brain from viper yet.
just checking if you guys have any ideas
thanks

A lot of possibilities. Here are a few...
1. Was the ALS AL-CA flashed with the correct firmware?   dbi-al(dl)-tl1
2. Was the bypass module Installation Mode set to Data or Standard and is it connected to the Viper 4105V via D2D
   or is it hardwired ( W2W )?
3. Is this one of those older Viper 4105V's that has only a 4 Pin port comes set for ESP/BitWriter and has to be switched
over to DBI D2D? ( Assuming the customer connected it as D2D.)
4. Did the bypass module give the correct response during vehicle progremming?
5. While the ADS AL-CA install guide doesn't show it, are the thick Viper 4105V ignition wires connected properly?
i.e. there are 2 ignition wires and two starter wires, is there an extra external relay to control the Starter2
   wire?
Then there is Tach Mode, Neutral Safety/Parking Brake, etc
Soldering is fun!

hey
its the newer viper brain with the 3 pin esp port.
its in d2d mode I reflahed the idatalink with the TL-1 and the door locks are controlled through data and they are working.
I checked the neutal safety switch and it has ground,( I thought that was the issue to but usually if that wire dose not have ground the viper flashes the parking lights 7 times and I get no light flashes at all )
I have it set to use virtual tach at the monment and the brake is through the bypass using data.
he doses not have then 2nd ign wire hooked up but the viper module should still actvate the acc and ign wires and click on the relays and tell the idatalink to bypass the key ( idatalink light should turn green and its staying off). I even thought it might be in valet mode a but its not and in valet mode it should flash the parking lights. and I checked the hood pin to make sure there is no ground on that wire, but if there was it would flash the lights.
that's why im kinda thinking its the modual its self but I know that very rare even more that is brand new just installed he said last month.
he said it has ever worked yet.
so im at a loss at the moment :(

If there's no response whatsoever when trying to remote start, might be an issue with the brain. I've seen a few dead Viper brains. Also IIRC brake through the bypass does not work over data with DBI.

Shutdown diagnostics is a very valuable tool to figure out a problem like this. Hold the programming button down, turn ignition of/off, release the button, then press and release the button and count the flashes.
