Avital remote start turns engine over but will not start ONLY when its very cold. When its warm it starts fine. If I use the key to start it, it fires right up. It is a 91 nissan pickup so there is no security key.
I can let the remote starter try to start it many times and it turns over the engine just fine but never fires. I can then get in and use the key to start and it fires instantly. I can then turn off the key and remove it from the truck and use the remote start as normal again.
This only happens when it is very cold, like below 0 degrees F.
I am drawing a huge blank, please help!

By tach I meant the input to the system. You could try reprogramming the tach setting to a slightly higher RPM. You may need to change where your getting tach from (an injector or cam sensor for example) then reprogram the tach setting

I'm not sure If I follow. The input to the remote starter is a tap off of the ignition coil which avital has a "learning mode" for. This has worked for years without a problem unless it is extra cold. The strangest part is that it starts just fine with a key, and even stranger is right after you start with a key, even for 5 seconds meaning the engine is still ice cold, you can hit the remote start button and it fires right up.
This is an older car, 91 nissan pickup. There are no fancy electronics. I don't understand why it fires with the key and not the remote start relays, they are completing the exact same circuit?
Not to mention it only happens in sub-zero temps, otherwise it works fine.

I realize this is my first post on here and that reduces my credibility a lot. I have gained lot's of knowledge from this site, my first visit here was over a decade ago, possibly before there were even forums. I'm not one to ask a stupid question that can easily be looked up elsewhere. This one just goes right over my head, there isn't a logical explanation that I can come to. Really looking for some help on this.

Are you powering up the Second Start wire on that vehicle. That's fuel enrichment for cold starts.
