Hi All, I have a 2007 Ford Focus that I have installed an Avital 4105 remote start system in. I have been having lock/unlock/trunk issues since day 1. The car came with factory keyless so I did not use a relay for anything and instead just spliced/soldered the wires from the Avital module to the factory wires. When the car has been sitting for a bit and is locked, it doesn't seem to reliably unlock when I come back out to it. The car will chirp as if it is unlocking but the locks never seem to actuate or the trunk will not open. Other times I will come back out to it and it works fine.
When the locks don't actuate, the distance is not a factor. I can be sitting right next to the car mashing the unlock button and the car is just chirping without actuating the locks. The connection is not an issue because the wires are soldered. I've never ever had a problem with the remote start working so it just seems to be the lock/unlock/trunk. Do you guys think I need relays for these three things even though the car has factory keyless? This car has Type B locks.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

You could try doing a search on here for "GEM module goes to sleep". I believe under certain conditions the module goes to sleep and has to be woken up or you can experience the symptoms you have. Worth a look.

Ooooohhh, I never knew about this. So I found this doc here:

Seems easy enough. No alarm on this car so looks like I just need to add two diodes and add in a spliced wire to the door ajar wire. I'll give it a shot. Thank you very much
