Hello,
I have a 2014 Honda Accord EX-L (push button start). I had a python 5706p installed by an authorized dealer/installer (they used a FlashLogic FLCAN module).
Some time ago I had my windshield replaced. I always warn the windshield people about the antenna and wiring that is tucked away. Post windshield install my remote didn't work. I wiggled the connector on the antenna thinking maybe the windshield guy didn't plug it all the way back in. The system started working after that. Fast forward about 60 days and the system stops working. When I say stops working I mean there is no communication between the remote and antenna and the antenna no longer flashes its blue LED at all anymore.
I investigated further and found the antenna cable had some insulation missing (looks like it was hit with a knife). I bought a new antenna and cable off Amazon (model 6826T - the same that came with the original unit). I threw it in and no change (led on antenna won't blink).
I took my car into the authorized dealer who did the install, informed them I changed the antenna and cable / and that the previous antenna cable had compromised insulation/some bare wire showing.
They told me the alarm "brain" is dead (without doing anything other than listening to my story) and to purchase a new one and put it in. They offered to do this for a bit more money than I thought was fair, so I declined and figured I would just buy a new unit myself and put the brain in / be done. Well, I purchased a new unit off of Amazon (same model) and put it in. No change, no LED.
My next step of course is to tuck my tail and go back to the authorized installer. Before I do this, does anyone more experienced than me have any advice? Is there some simple procedure to initialize these units that I am missing? I have reviewed the documentation that my new kit came with and did not see anything.
Regards,
Andrew

That is a very valid question. Yes, I checked the fuses with my multimeter.

unless the antenna is defective the unit only needs 12v supply and a good ground to operate so I would check that it. has both of them also with the new antenna you purchased you have to reprogram the remotes to the system

Thanks for the reply luism21. I will go back out soon and take another look / attempt to pair the remotes.
I have been searching around quite a bit. One data point I am confused about is - if I understand correctly my FlashLogic FLCAN unit uses DBI per the firmware that is flashed on it. Is my Python 5706p setup to use DBI automatically, or do I need to configure it to use DBI? Haven't been able to find much on this topic.

all you have to do is connect the data harness from the FLCAN to the Red DBI connector of the 5706. no programming on the 5706 needed.

Hi Luism21,
Thanks for the information. I was able to pair my remote. However my remote start is not working yet. Looking at my quick reference/install guide it appears there are 3 menus with various options. One of the menus deals exclusively with remote start options. How does a person know what to select on menus like this?

The menus I am referencing are here: https://www.directeddealers.com/manuals/IG/Python/N5X06%202016-02%20web.pdf specifically menu 3 - remote start. I suspect that these need to be setup a certain way. Trying to understand how someone would know what to set these to.

I'm guessing this is an automatic. Menu 3 option 1 is transmission mode. The default is manual. Program to automatic and let us know if it works.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

Duh.
That did the trick.
Man. I’m a victim of circumstance. Windshield repair people probably cut the wire a while back. By luck it just shorted out now. Windshield people wouldn’t take responsibility. My authorized dealer wanted $580 to install a new unit. After much discussion they noted they would install one I provided (with no warranty - understandable) for $160.
So, they were going to charge me $160 (or $580!!) to plug it in, pair the remote and change that setting. I’ve spent a couple grand at this place the last few years.
Thanks guys.
Whenever a windshield gets replaced I’m going to have to start checking the antenna cable before and after the install.
On another note, it looks like the broken one only blew 1 45 cent transistor.
