2014 Camry R/defroster with Pro T11

I have a 2014 Camry with the "G" key ignition. It has a Compustar Pro T11 remote starter installed. When needed I would like to be able to turn on the rear defroster when the car is remote started. The shop that installed it said they couldn't do this but I have come across conflicting info which seems to indicate it can be done. Hoping someone can clear this up for me, is it possible and if so is it a lot of extra work. I would more than likely take it to another shop but if it isn't to tough I could even take a shot at it myself, I am an electrician but I don't pretend to know much about Auto electrics. Directechs has Green, negative, passenger kick, gray 18 pin plug, pin 18   I have no idea of the current required. How big is that wire? I am not at all familiar with your remote start unit. But there will at least be a ground while running wire. To be safe, use a relay. If you use the remote start outside of freezing season you may want to put a switch somewhere so you can easily disable it for summer time.

Assuming you can find the proper wire, the controller likely has a defrost output (though you’d have to program some options). If it’s a 7200/7000, there’s several wires you can program as defroster (-) outputs on CN5. Also, if you add a thermister you can program it to automatically come on below a certain temperature so you wouldn’t have to worry about turning it off in the summertime.

Thanks for the replies guys, I will most likely just live with it the way it is or try a different shop if I get frustrated enough. I'm just not familiar enough with Auto electrics to make a confident update with the info provided.
