2000 Range Rover, Crimestopper RS7-G5 Remote Start

Sirs, I am attempting to install a crimestopper RS7-G5 remote start module on a 2000 land rover range rover HSE, according to wiring notes the vehicle is negative ignition, thus I have used relays to reverse polarity, using poles 30 and 85 to ground, 86 from alarm 87 to vehicle. although the crimestopper module has keyless entry and factory alarm disable I have not wired said features. testing my initial installation, if I activate remote start, the engine runs but starter remains engaged, when this happens if I insert key in ignition and turn to on position, engine stays running starter disengages. at this time I can remove key and starter module goes thru run cycle as normal. my question, what could be the reason for this action and how do I proceed to solve? thanks in advance.

Rovertech- This sounds like the engine sensing is not working correctly. Did you hook up the tach signal and program/learn the tach on the Crimestopper? Tachless modes are not always reliable, and issues like this can usually be corrected by hooking up and programming the tach signal. Hope this helps.Lectric Guy

it never crossed my mind to revisit tach wiring, on the few systems I have installed (I'm a mechanic by trade but play with wiring of my own vehicles) I have taken the signal from coil and never inside vehicle such as in this case. thanks for the response, I will review my wiring.

The information from Bulldog lists Tach as follows: TACH     ANY wire NOT WHITE     @ IGNITION COILS     Lectric Guy

advice taken, thank you. lots of rain on east coast and I am doing install on parking lot, will revisit as soon as weather cooperates.

all right gentleman, I finished the wiring. locks and unlocks, horn sounds and programmed unit for tach rather than tachless, I have two temporary tach wires, silver at cluster and white at coil connector from engine. when I test the system it recognises either wire I use as tach signal, but when I remote start vehicle starter solenoid remains engaged. if I turn on ignition key engine remains on and solenoid disengages. I have continued attempting to figure out why and how to correct, besides turning key when starter solenoid remains engaged I have taken my power probe and shot a momentary positive pulse to 87 pole of relay and the grinding stops. I am not sure why this is happening, or how to solve. the system has a negative pulse wire, I am tempted to convert to positive pulse by using relay unless there is another solution to my concern. while testing for a solution I have wired straight to starter solenoid and upon remote activation the starter grind continued to act, this makes me think that somehow factory relay is being reverse energized and this makes the starter solenoid to remain activated and thus grind.    could someone offer some insight. thanks.
