Hood Pin Ground Input Not Disabling Remote Start, Compustar CS4900S

I have successfully installed a Compustar CS4900S remote start with an iDataLink ADS-ALCA bypass on a 2010 Toyota RAV4. Bypass is set to 2 way data mode. No issues with the remote start, lock and unlock. I installed the supplied hood pin switch since there is no OEM switch for the bypass to use. After making the connection through the firewall grommet to the orange/black ground input wire on the bypass, I tested it to see if the remote start was disabled with the hood open. It didn't work. The vehicle started. From what I understand the bypass is looking for a ground signal to disable the remote start. I thought I had a bad ground at the switch. After several unsuccessful tests, I connected a wire to the orange/black ground input and connected it to the ground on the battery. This should have disabled the remote start but it still started. I'm at a loss as to why this safety feature is not working.

wrong wire.. hook up the hood pin to the grey/blk from the compustar. If the car came with a factory hood pin, the AlCA would sense it via data.. all you are doing is telling the ALCA there is no hood pin (using your hood pin).. If you want the safety feature to work, you need to hood up the the hood pin wire to "grey/Blk on the 4200)

The ADS AL-CA Orange/Black wire must go to Chassis Ground if there is no Factory Hood Pin. I usually just combine this wire to CN1 Pin 8 Black Chassis Ground during bench prep. This connection just lets the ADS AL-CA that there is no Factory Hood Pin and not to bother trying to send out this status signal via D2D or the Yellow wire. As SilverCivicSIR mewntioned, you must then connect the CM900's CN3 Pin 8 Gray/Black wire to the kit supplied Hood Pin so the R/S can get a good hood status.Soldering is fun!
