Hi all
I bought 2001 mpv dx but didn’t give me fob. I wanted to replace existing central locking system. I only found 2000 mpv wiring information here, no information for 2001 mpv. Would anyone know? Can I just buy any universal keyless central locking system to replace it? Would it work?
Pls advise.

Your MPV van has a one-wire door lock system.   The 2000 and 2001 models should be the same.
Lock        L GREEN (-)          DRIVER KICK PANEL
Unlock     same wireSINGLE WIRE SYSTEM
Info from Bulldog Security
POWER LOCK          GREEN (1-Wire Door Lock System) See NOTE #2    @ THEFT MODULE, See NOTE *2
POWER UNLOCK    Same wire
NOTE *2 THE THEFT MODULE IS LOCATED HIGH IN THE DRIVERS KICK PANEL.
Here is the relay wiring diagrams from Bulldog :
   http://diagrams.marktoonen.nl/DOWNLOADS/9011_MPV_MAZDA%20MPV%201%20WIRE%20JBS%20UNITS.pdf
Please note that Bulldog indicates a 1,200 ohm resister while this sites download for the 2000 MPV shows a 2,200 ohm resister. You might have to play around with those values to get the correct one that will consistently Lock the doors. Also note that the diagrams are labeled for use with their Bulldog systems using their own relays, etc.
If you want to put in a Remote Keyless Entry system that would control the door locks, check out the Avital 2101L system that is widely available. It is a decent quality system has the internal door lock relays you need and two remotes.
We can assist with the actual wiring with whatever system you choose.

Hi
Thanks a lot for your valuable information. I checked the avital 2101L manual and it has 12-pin harness. Which pin I need to connect? Also regarding the wiring diagram. There were 3 diagrams, which one I refer? Also do you know where I can buy Avital system cheap?
Please advise. Thanks again

You can check either EBay.CA or Amazon for the Avital 2101L system. Looks to be about $50. You can also find the needed resistor on either of those sites. A 10 pack of 1.2K ohm 1/4 watt resistors is about $2.25.
If you are planning on doing this yourself you will need a Digital Multi Meter and some other supplies to perform the install. You must locate, test and verify the necessary vehicle wires before making any wire connections. Soldering all connections would provide the best results. Some vehicle disassembly will be required ( DKP and steering column ).
Avital 2101L to 2001 Mazda MPV
H1/1 RED (+) 12V CONSTANT POWER INPUT ------------------------------------ +12V constant Red at main ignition switch harness in steering column
H1/2 BLUE (-) 200 mA SECOND UNLOCK OUTPUT ----------------------------- not used

H1/4 BLACK/WHITE OUTPUT OF DOMELIGHT SUPERVISION------------ DOOR TRIGGER   BLACK/RED (-) IN DRIVERS KICK PANEL

H1/8 BLUE/BLACK UNLOCK #30 COMMON (OUTPUT) ----------------------- to GREEN (1-Wire Door Lock System) @ THEFT MODULE
H1/9 VIOLET UNLOCK #87 NORMALLY OPEN (INPUT) ---------------------- to H1/11 ( which goes to Chassis Ground )
H1/10 WHITE (+/-) PARKING LIGHT FLASH OUTPUT --- set to + ----------- to LIGHT GREEN/BLACK (+) IN DRIVERS KICK PANEL

H1/17 BROWN/BLACK UNLOCK #87A NORMALLY CLOSED ----------------- not used
H1/18 RED/WHITE (-) OUTPUT OF CHANNEL 2 ----------------------------------- not used
Notes :
H1/5 Lock output wire will have 1.2k ohm resistor added in-line enroute to vehicle lock wire.
H1/8 Unlock wire can be combined with H1/5 after the resistor and the single wire then runs to the vehicle Green wire.
H1/12 is optional if you don't want audible horn confirmation, panic mode and theft deterrent.
H1/15 is optional if you don't want those supported features.
The 2101L comes set to (+) Parking Light output. Verfiy the jumper prior to install.
There are only a few wires to locate and verify. The DMM will make it easy to find the +12V constant, Ignition, (+) Parking Lights, Horn and Door Pin. Use an Unlock command to locate the Green door lock/unlock wire. We can give you instructions on using the DMM to test for a (-) type vehicle wire like the Horn, Door Pin and Lock wire.
