I  just bought an 03 F150 and would like to install a remote starter. My last truck had a alarm/remote starter with the two way pager. I really liked knowing if the truck had started or not.

I am only wanting to install a remote starter on this truck. Does anyone know of a remote starter only with the two way paging system?

There's lots of them; Autostart as-2500lcd, Astrostart 4204, Polarstart 3200tw, Compustar 2w-fms,Ultrastart 3355a or 3560a xr. To name a few

This is of course assuming that you have an automatic. Now, which ones are good or not is a matter of prefference, I have my opinions, just as most installers do. I just don't want to rant about some of them here.

ive only installed the matrix RS series like the rs 2.5, 3, 3.5 .  they all work well but you have to watch what modle you decide on, they are also alarms so the price goes up but hey, with all the work being done for the RS why not finish it off with an alarm :)

they have nice options and good flexibility.  i think they add the defogger output now, tho you can do that with any extra channel and a relay.

just an opinon, i cant say its the best because i dont have mutch else to compare it to, but DEI has its own reputation for that.

Crimestopper RS-999FM, I have on on my 03 F150 Supercrew.  Remote is a little large for pocketing, but I love it.

Well, I didn't want to rant, I've been installing starts for over 10 years, but here goes... dei makes good pruducts(or at least they hold up well), in my opinion they should stick to alarms. Their car starters suck. They think they are so smart, but they just buy out other companies just to get their copyrighted products. Their starters lack features that other companies have had for years, like resetable run-time. If you push the start button, and you can't see your vehicle, you don't know if you started it or shut if off. Their range on the 2-way starter/alarm(no, as far as i know, they don't make a starter-only with 2 way) combo is crap. I install ultrastarts which i'm not happy about some of their stuff, but they have at least more than triple the range of dei. I went to one of their seminars 2 years ago and they told us that they were doing something revolutionary by putting the reciever in the antenna to get extra range. I asked them if it's so revolutionary, they why have astrostart and command start have been doing that the mid-ninties? Freaking losers.

The next starter thats going in my vehicle...compustar 2wss-as, or astrostart if i want just a starter.

But thats my opinion.

Justaguy, that is exactly why I like to visit this site, you guys tell it like it is, I have not been able to find that elsewhere. Other places you might get somebody that had problems with one install and then they trash talk that company.  People like you have years of experience under your belt and you know what you are talking about. I appreciate you and the other people that have replied to this posting taking the time to share your knowledge.......Thank you!!!!

I have had good luck with the AutoStart and the Lynx 2000R systems. As far as remote start only, the AS2500 LCD TW from Autostart has my vote for range and installer options. I have installed Ultra Starts before too, & the range is awesome on those things, but the programming is a bit tedious.
