i also have a 98 F-150....only its a 4x2, but that doesnt matter anyways. i had trouble finding my tach wire at the pcm module. to easily access it, ya gotta take out the battery and also the battery tray...i got my tach wire behind the instrument cluster. i dont remember if it was the same color (WHITE/ pink), but i just put my dmm on it and the voltage went up and down w/ the rpms. but its a simple install because there is no bypass module needed. well for mine it didnt need it...if you have a normal sized key then you dont, but if the black part if the key is kinda fat, then you do. but most likely you dont. anyways, the door locks, depending on if you have factory keyless entry or not, could be two different types. if you do have keyless entry, then its just a negative pulse door lock and you dont need to do anything but tap into the wires. however if you do not have keyless, then its a 5 wire door lock system. you will need a relay pack for this and hopefully one comes with your alarm.
