hi,

    i recently bought a 1988 toyota supra that already had a sidewinder alarm system in it. about a week ago i managed to set off the factory alarm which i didn't know was on there. when tis went off it set off the sidewinder alarm. once i got them both shut off i tried to start the car and it wont start. all off my electronics work in the car but when i try to start it absolutly nothing happens.

if someone could give me some suggestions i would really appreciate it.

You have a starter disable relay that is still active. The starter disable cuts just the starter wire while leaving everything else intact and operational. You need to reset the alarm ( Sidewinder ) and this will deactivate the relay. If you diconnect the battery and reconnect it, it should reset the alarm.

i tried to disconnect the battery but every time i try it i manage to set one of the alarms off when i either disconnect it or reconnect  it. i still cant get it to start.if i push in the clutch and try to start it,  it does the same thing as trying to start the car without pushing the clutch in the service dept. at toyota they told me that i may have shorted somthing out when both alarms whent off and they said that it is not possible to have the factory and aftermarket alarms both hooked up.

You CAN have both the OEM and an aftermarket alarm hooked up . The OEM is only a door trigger, hood & maybe a trunk trigger system. The aftermarket one will be that + the shock and maybe a perimeter trigger.

• Now, what you want to do is to go under the dash and follow the wires of the aftermarket alarm and find the brain.
• Disconnect all the wires from this module and find the BLACK/ WHITE wire of the car in this mess of wires. This is your STARTER wire for the car.
• Make sure that this wire has not been cut. Follow this wire until you can not follow it anymore and if the wire has not been cut in half anywhere, then it's another problem.
• IF the wire has been cut in half and is wired into to a relay, then you have to reconnect the starter wire halves and try to start the car after you have cut the starter disable relay away from the wires. There will be 4 wires connected to this relay.

This will not work if there is a starter disable relay installed into the system. Unplugging the unit will not reconnect the starter wire that was cut for this circuit. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this ?

 i checked my alarm and the only BLACK/ white wire from the aftermarket is for the domelights,this is what the wireing diagram on the alarm says. there are 2 relays that are part of the alarm. how can i tell which one it is? i have a sidewinder model 5000 if that helps?

You need to find the BLACK/ WHITE wire from the car, not the alarm.... sorry for not clarifying that.

sidewinder's made by DEI, right? if it's like all their other alarms, the starter kill relay is N/C, and it takes ignition switched 12v+ and a - output from the alarm to open it.  so you could just unplug the alarm and forget about it if you didn't care.

  i found the BLACK/ white wire and it was connected to a relay. i reconected the wire together and it still gives me nothing. my question is there are still 3 wires connected to the relay am i supposed to cut those to? Also, ther is another relay that is connected to the aftermarket alarm would this relay have anything to do with the problem?
