Problem with Crimestopper CS-2011RS

Ok, I have a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer 2dr LS 4x4, here is my situation: I just recently got the main part of my alarm/remote start/keyless entry installed and I have ran into a bit of a snag. Everything worked perfectly at first, then I noticed, after a little while, that my power locks stopped working and when I turned the Blazer off, the parking lights would not go off. Anyway, I ended up unplugging the unit and it fixed everything. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this? I have tried to plug it back in, with the same effect. I can still get the remote start to work, but the parking lights will not go off and I cannot arm/lock and disarm/unlock the system/doors. It acts like the buttons don't work. I know that everything is, or at least was, wired correctly because EVERYTHING was working like it was supposed to, door locks, parking lights, everything. The doorlocks are positive pulse and I have an Omega DLP-P3 Interface, which is supposed to change the current from the alarm to work with the positive pulse. I have used this before and it does work (At least it did in my Cutlass). When I push the arm and disarm buttons on my remote and they do nothing, they are supposed to flash the parking lights upon arm/disarm and that doesn't happen (Parking lights will not go off). When the alarm is plugged in I cannot even lock or unlock the doors using the factory door mounted lock/unlock buttons.I wired the parking lights up right by the switch. I did check that with a voltage meter, the wire read + when I turned the parking lights on and read - when the lights were off. As I said before, all of this was working fine when I first installed it. So, I believe Ihave a defective unit. I sent the unit back into Crimestopper last week, I haven't heard back yet. I just want to know what I need to do to keep this from happening again.

How was your ground attached ? Sometimes a poor ground or a loose ground deteriorates the functions of a RS unit and eventually if doesn't work or always malfunctions.Jeff

That was one of my first thoughts.I've tested the ground, it is solid and attached to a bolt under the dash. It can't even be wiggled. It tested out fine with a my multimeter.I also messed with the ground with the unit attached, while it was malfunctioning. It didn't make any difference.

See what happens with the new unit and if the problem persists post your results.Jeff

Someone had told me, I believe it was RadioDr, that he has seen this type of problem caused by pressing the Lock button on the transmitter at the same time as the Lock button on the door switch. It somehow backfeeds into the alarm unit and frys a transistor. Could there be any true in that? I did quite a bit of playing around when I first got this installed, so it is a possibility that could have happened.Ever heard of this?? If so, how should I try to prevent this from happening in the future?

Well, I just received an email from Crimestopper returns department. Here is what they said:Your alarm module was repaired and it is being shipped today. We shipped it FedEx Ground and it should arrive in approx. (4) days. The tech wrote that he replaced an IC and a resistor on the PC board.I emailed them back asking about a possible cause, I will let you guys know what they have to say.

I emailed Larry a while back about the diodes, still no word. I received the module yesterday and all I got was instructions to reprogram the remotes. So I went out to my Blazer to make sure that everything was repaired properly and to reprogram the remotes and the same thing happened again. It was only plugged in for about 5 minutes. I am more than a little pissed off at this. Here is exactly what happened: I closed the door and then locked it with the remote. A few seconds later, I unlocked it with the remote. I then opened the door for a few minutes to look for something. I closed the door and a few seconds later it made a sound like the doors locked, unlocked, then locked again and I was no where near the remote. I checked the door and it was locked, without me telling it to lock. So I tried to unlock it with the remote, nothing. I tried to remote start, nothing. So, I unlocked the doors manually and I looked down to where the module is mounted and all I can see & smell is electrical smoke. I quickly removed the module and it was a little warm. When I got back, I removed the casing on it and sure enough it is the same chip on the circuit board (U4). I have already emailed Crimestopper about it, I guess I will have to send it back in AGAIN. Since they couldn't respond back to my previous emails. So, what do I need to do?-One person told me that the Omega DLP-P3 Inverter for the Locks is the problem and that I should use relays instead. I have used this part before and I have had no problems with it.-I had also been told about the diodes. I looked at the Diode page here and it looks pretty simple to hook up. Just need to know what I need to buy and where I need to hook it up.
