This is only my second remote start, having more trouble than the first one (95 Cutlass).  Putting in a DEI 561R.

#1:  Does it matter which door lock wire (green or blue) from the r.s. goes to which of the lock/unlock wires (grey/red  or grey/blue).  I connected blue to grey/blue only, just to test left green hanging, and am not getting any lock action.  Is it correct that since this is negative trigger I don't need any external relays?

#2:  Where exactly is the GREEN/ YELLOW wire to disarm the factory security light?  I found one but I don't think it's the right one.

#3:  Since I'm not too sure about #2, here's where I'm at.  I initiate a remote start and nothing happens.  If i put the key in ignition and turn just enough that the Security light turns off (not so far that the ignition comes on) and then initiate a remote start, all the dash lights do come on for a second, but then instead of starting up they all go out again.

#4: Would it be easy to hook up the auxiliary channel to honk the horn for a second?  This car doesn't have an electric trunk release, so I was thinking of honking the horn as a slight safety option.

THANKS!

Brian

#1  Yes it matters,  the green is your lock wire and the blue is the unlock wire.

#2  The factory disarm wire can be found in the drivers door harness.

#3  You don't have either an accy or an ignition wire connected properly.  Here's another diagram:

http://www.directechs.com/directwire/wire_body.asp?action=select&yr=1788&product=Remote%20Sta

#4:  Your alarm might have a BROWN / white wire which is used for horn honk.  This will allow both your siren and your to sound off together.

READ, READ, READ, TEST, TEST, TEST

# 1 YES............Unless U don't care which button on RS Locks or Unlocks

U may need to use 2 SPDT Relays for Lock / UNLock because your RS needs a stronger ground output
# 2.......If U think U "found one"..put a meter on it and test it......GREEN/ YELLOW at Alarm Module in Driver Kick Panel
# 3...Did U power up Cold Start Wire  BLACK/ GREEN At Ignition Switch Harness
# 4.........?? Ooo  K??

Raydawg-

That link didn't turn up any diagram.

mo12v-

I didn't know if it mattered about the lock / unlock wires because the remote only has a single lock/unlock button.  I figured if I had them reversed you wouldn't be able to tell, perhaps, because it would just go from whichever state it's in to the opposite state.

Will "read read test test" tonight.

THANK YOU!

Even though the remote only has one button, the alarm has one wire for lock and one for the unlock.  Let's try the link again.

Okay, making some good progress here thanks to you guys.  Doors are locking and unlocking.

The link you gave above was a mixed bag.  Helped me find the lock wires real quick, but it had the wrong wires for Accessory.  WHITE/ blue is accessory, as posted on the diagram database here.  Just grabbed my meter and started testing like you guys suggested instead of trusting the charts.

I'm still not getting a start though.  A local installer said the light flashing on the dashboard was not a problem, the car would still start.  Is it disabling anything or is it just a blinking light to scare people?

Also in the link above can someone please read the "Note" under the "Accessory" wire and explain how I isolate the accesory wire from keyswitch during remote start with the accessory relay?

Thanks....

Got the hood pin in, lights are working... now if i can only get the remote start, to start! :)

How can I test any suspected factory disarm wire? (GREEN/ YELLOW)  With key out, would it be 0V, and with key turned to ignition on 12V? Or does the disarm wire go + to -?  Does it change based on ignition or start ?

It has to be either the security system not being disarmed, or, the note about the accessory wire having to be isolated during remote start above.  To summarize:  i initiate the remote start, all the dash lights come on for 1/2 second or so, and then they all shut off.  No attempt to start is made.

Just to be clear, I've got two ignition wires and two starter wires connected.  All were tested with a meter.

From this site's wiring chart: the two ignition wires plus the one starter wire.

From the post above: the second starter wire, BLACK/ green.

Thank you!

I think I hunted down the accessory isolation schematic.  Hopefully this is the last step (maybe security disarm too?).

http://www.directechs.com/techtips/pdfs/resources/security/directed_techtips/1077.pdf

So I have to cut the car's WHITE/ blue wire and wire up as shown.  I assume I need to buy and use an external relay for this, the 561R can't handle this logic internally?  Because the 561R's relays are internal to the unit.

THANKS.

you have to isolate the accessory wire like shown with a relay or otherwise it could make the dash light gauges radio go crazy . i think the accessory output from the alarm when not been powered has a negative rest state  which can cause problems thats why u have to isolate it . there is anothor guy here named gsaav that i think has the same problem on his 2000 toyota celica.
