I have this unit installed in my truck with an APS996, and it used to work fine but then the remote start stopped working and will only crank now. I reprogrammed it and it starts when I do that, but right after I retry and it just goes back to cranking until I reprogram it and it works one time again. The capsule is secure and close to the ignition and I don't move it. Anyone have any ideas?

U may want to make sure the Relay on the 555 is activating when U Remote Start. It doesn't sound like the 555 is programming

Have U tried Remote Starting with the Key in the Ignition?

It starts with the key in no problem, and will start one time when I program the capsule. After that is won't work again. If the relay wasn't activating, why would it work one time?

make sure the wire is wrapped in a constant cirlce pattern around the key cylinder crossing it over and over can sometimes cause it to not work. i ran into this problem last week and that solved it.

Do NOT know how much time has passed when you say U programmed and it only starts 1 time

U can start Fords with PATS, with RS within 30 seconds of having key in ignition, running & then turning Key off and removing key

That is why I posted:

U may want to make sure the Relay on the 555 is activating when U Remote Start. It doesn't sound like the 555 is programming

Have U tried Remote Starting with the Key in the Ignition?

Not starting vehicle with KEY............

it won't start when programming if the capsule you're learning is no present.

The vehicle will start with the key in, using the remote start, I didn't word it right. The vehicle will NOT start within 30 seconds unless the capsule it present. All it will do is turn over. Below is exactly what is happening, these things are hard to express on a board.

1.Put in first key, wait until theft light goes out

2.Put in second key, wait until theft light goes out

3.Put capsule close to ignition and start within 10 seconds, and will start no problem as long as capsule is positioned right

4.Turn vehicle off and try to start with remote start and all it does is crank. If I repeat 1-3 it will work again.

Anyone know what is wrong? My only guess is that it is not storing the programming, or when I turn the vehicle off it somehow clears. It used to work fine and nothing was changed.

How do I knowi f the relay is activating? The 555f must be working somewhat if it allows it to start initially doesn't it? It won't start without it, so part of it is working.

Well, U could put your hand on it to feel the "click" or meter it

How long after U "program it" can U Remote Start the vehicle?

Will it Remote Start "1 time" after 20 minutes or will it Remote Start "1 time" after you start vehicle with Key , turn off and Remove key and wait 10 or so minutes?

Hope I'm not rattling your brain.......

It only works the time I program it, it doesn't work after that. After taking the 2 keys out and putting the capsule in front it starts that time only. One minute or 4 days after doesn't make a difference, it only works when programming it.
