I just bought a 01 Ford Harley Davidson Supercrew.  It didnt have the keyless remote with it.  (im assuming it had one before....   the lights flash when I lock the doors manually and close the doors)

Anyways Im in the process of adding an alarm.  I hooked up the alarm I just havent tied into the door locks yet.  But If its possible I would like to disable the factory stuff while hooking my alarm up?

Can I do it?  Im hoping there is just a unit I can disconnect the power to or something.

Look on the inside firewall on the drivers side and see if the keyless entry module is there.  I just unplugged both connectors and everything seems ok.

why disable the factory stuff?  Just wire the aftermarket in to control the factory alarm...

Thats another option, then you won't need to wire for the domelight or doorlocks.   You could just let the factory unit control those.

Does your truck actually have a factory alarm or is it just keyless entry?  I just disconnected the keyless entry because I didn't like the domelight to stay on till I put the truck in drive.  I much prefer the ignition controlled light of the alarm.

Thats just it.  Im not sure what the vehicle has.  I cant arm the thing without the remote.  Well unless I get on the arm wire but Im just wanting to hook up my alarm.

Will the module have some type of Identification on it?

And where can I get the manual for a Carbine 5600?
