How inportant is it to wire up the 3rd ignition wire? I reed posts about people having transmission problems because they didn't hook up one of the ignition wires from the switch. I installed a remote start on my 2002 silverado and I don't think I made and connection to the third ignition wire. Any body think I will be OK to keep it as is or wire up the 3rd ignition.
on my 2004 I installed a GMDL4 module for my door locks and security dissable, I have it set so unlock does both my doors but I only have to push it one time to lock and push twice to unlock. Is this normal or do I have something wrong?
When I enter the vehicle and either put the key in the ignition and cancell the remote start or just start it normally the doors lock about one or two seconds after I turn the key, is this supposed to happen with the GMDL4 module or is it something in the remote starter?
In my directions for hooking up the module it says to hook up the brown wire to the "ground when running" output of the remote starter and if not installing a remote starter to not use it. What is the pupose of this wire, and why would you use the module without a remote starter?
By the way the remote start unit is a Valet 562t

the 3rd ign is actually to control the radio and wipers, and you do not neeed to hook those up.

"and why would you use the module without a remote starter?"
The GMDL4 is strictly for the factory alarm and door locks. It does not bypass the passlock system. You would use the GMDL4 if your doing anything involving a keyless entry..
IE:
- Remote Start w/ keyless
- Keyless Entry
- Alarm
The locks issue is most likely either you have ignition controlled locks turned on via the 562T, or it may be an issue with the GMDL4. If you turn off the ignition locks option on the 562T and it doesn't solve it, disconnect the brown wire from the GMDL4 and that should take care of it assuming this isn't a factory fetaure. Only issue with disconnecting the brown wire from the GMDL4 is that it won't disarm the factory alarm when remote starting, which may trip the alarm in some cases.
