Hi everyone,

I have a 1999 corolla I've just put an alarm in... and everything works good except the parking break lights which I can only seem to find people saying it's the green one and then they put a (+) after it?  My car alarm diagram has a (-) coming form the wire that's suppose to trigger them.

They didn't seem to work hooking them together?

any help please?

thanks

must use a relay to convert the polarity (unless your alarm has an adjustable parking light polarity like some of the viper alarms), either way its safer to use a relay.  here you go...

Okay... so I found a link that gives me a positive and negative wire.

http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/New%20Wires/New%20Wires/Wires/toycorolla98-02.htm

but neither of them work when I hook them up to my alarm system.  I'ts an option group alarm... two white wires come from the control unit and say to attach to hazard lights.

is hazard lights different from parking lights?  can anyone tell me where in my corolla I can hook these up too.  both wires in the link above dont' work... thanks

also.... anyone know what the jumper setting on the unit do?

thanks

Mark

Why do you want to hook up your hazard lights (just curious-- this is a pretty nonstandard thing to do...)?
Any way, you say you have an "option group alarm"-- I've never heard of this-- can you provide a little more info? Manufacturer web site? Model?

hard time finding the website.... but this is the manufacturor

http://www.ldalarm.com/

I thought hooking up the parking lights was good so they would flash when you arm and disarm the alarm.

also... if someone sets it off... don't you want the lights to flash... to alert other people?

Hey Mark, just to clarify something here..... the alarm system that you have says that it outputs a (-) or (+) from the unit ? Some systems I have installed uses a (-) input for the lights to notify the unit that the lights are still on after arming to warn the owner that they are still on. Are you sure that you have the right wire on the alarm system.

my alarm install diagram says white wire (2 of them) O/P +5 A

from the link above there is a negative and positive terminal for the parking lights in my corolla.... I've tried both....

thanks for the replies guys.... keep them coming ;)

cheers

is there possibly another reason why it wouldn't be working..?

like other things needing to be hooked up.... I havn't hooked up the door switch... or head light on warning cable... my car does the headlight warning thing already... I also havn't hooked up the foot brake wire

thanks again for the inputs

PARKING LIGHTS +|green               |   |bottom of fuse box

PARKING LIGHTS -|lt GREEN/ black      |   |steering column

You probably didn't grab the proper wire. Did you test any of the wires you grabbed ? Make sure that you meter the wires before testing for the (+) GREEN wire. Place a jumper from 12 volt constant to the GREEN wire at the bottom of the fuse box and this will turn on your parking lights. Make sure you test this wire prior to ensure that the meter is giving you 12 volts when you turn on the lights and 0 when you turn them off.
