I'm having a very weird problem with the remote starter I installed in this 97 grand am about 3 months ago. I installed an omega autostarter and a designtech universal bypass, since it has passlock I. Like a few weeks ago the bypass unit stopped working for no reason. When I took it apart i noticed that it has a lot of water damage, i guess he has a leak in his windshield or somewhere, cause you could see it in the unit it was all corroded. I ordered it a new bypass unit and its acting real weird now. It refusues to start the 1st time it cranks, but it tries again, and the 2nd time it cranks for like 7 seconds which it way too long, and then it starts, but after it starts the starter still winds out for like 5 seconds, which seems pretty damaging to the starter. But he funny part is when it does all that it stays running.
Does anyone have any information on y this car would be doing this.
thanks
mike

Does this unit have a programable tach??  If your passlock module is istalled correctly, sounds like a tach issue.

I dont know why it would have changed.....BUT................ If your running tachless, hook it up!
