Going a R/S on a 96 Chevy Cavalier, and the tach wire have been kicking my a@#. Does anyone know the tach wire color and location. All my specs have me testing the wrong wires.

The wire color off the instrument cluster would be extremely helpful. Please advise

On the 2.2 L motor which the RS is I believe, your tach wire is White or an Orange wire... it is in the engine harness above your transaxle... by the battery... under the radiator hose... on the 2.4 L motor its' PURPLE / White *same location*

It's a large harness with a million wire in it. The wire you are looking for is in the middle of it all. One or two of them will look like the same colour wire you are trying to find. My advice to you is to get lots of light in there so that you can differenciate the wire that needs to be tested.

CHEVROLET, CAVALIER, 1996, Tachometer

The engine harness is found next to the battery, below the radiator hose, just above the transaxle. Use white or orange on the 2.2L motor, and PURPLE / white on the 2.4L motor.
