1996 monte carlo, alarm/remote start

look for the wire in the driver kickpanel or at the factory alarm module.Test the wire with a digital meter to find out what polarity it takes to disable the factory alarm.The wiring diagram you could look for it at the vehicle info at the left of the screen under general info.

Im not sure of the color in the monte carlo (should be light green which is a standard GM factory disarm wire -check under vehicle wiring on this site for the color) but there should be a wire in the drivers kick (coming in from the drivers door boot) that will go to ground when you turn the key to the unlock position in the drivers door. That is your factory disarm wire. If you use 2 diodes to split the unlock wire from the aftermarket brain you can hook the one diode to the disarm wire and one to the unlock wire in the car. This will disarm the factory alarm and unlock the doors via the aftermarket alarm. Also to arm the factory alarm you will have to split the lock wire with diodes and hook it up to the doorpin wire and lock wire. This should arm the factory alarm and lock the doors via the aftermarket alarm. Again this is a standard GM thing you can check to see if this will arm the alarm by opening your door, hitting the lock button on the door, closing the door, waiting for 30 seconds or so for the alarm to set then open the door from the inside (not from the key). If the alarm goes off the the previous mentioned way of arming the factory alarm will work just fine.

all airbag wires are in yellow protective sleeving so aslong as you stay away from them u should be fine try and get as much info on the wiring as possible on the car you are installing it on first.
