I was wondering if anyone knew if a car remote starter system could interfer with a car's normal functioning.

I had a remote starter installed outside the dealer when I bought my Mitsubishi Lancer. It worked just great for a couple years until now. My car seems to lose all its power everytime I use the remote starter. A few minutes after the car is moved, the battery dies and the car stalls.

I took the car to the service dept. and they said it was the battery, so I had them install a new one. Today, same thing happened, the car died on me. Got it jumped started again and it died again twice before I got home.

The place that installed the remote starter is out of business now, so I can't take it back.

I disconnected the battery and reconnected it, the car starts again and it seems to do just fine. But Ultimately, I'd like to know if the remote starter is the problem or not.

If so, I can do without it and I'd like to uninstall it. Have been looking for info online on how disconnect the wires but no luck. If anyone happens to know where I can find info, please let me know.

Look under the dash and you should be able to find the control module(remote start).follow all the thick wires that go up to the ignition harness.Remove the fuses you find on thick wires (30 amps).This should stop your remote start from working,see if this does any good in solving your problem.

It could be a malfunction in the auto start unit and you may have to remove the whole system afterwards.

Thanks, I appreciate it, I was lost there for a second, didn't know where to start. I will look into that, but I think you are right, the whole unit needs to come off. Thanks again. :-)
