I want to install a remote starter on a "standard" 95 golf but the dome light only works when you open any door besides the driver's side door. Will this be a problem? Do I really need to hook up the dome wire? I believe that is the wire that tells the unit that no one has entered the car since the "sequence" has been setup and that the car is still in neutral... The remote starter is a (Auto start AS-1260)
Also does anyone have the wiring diagram for my car. I downloaded the one from this site but it doesn't tell which wire or the location of the dome wire and the handbreak wire. Also if they are + or -
Thanks

The remote starter must see the door open and close to allow the starter sequence to work. Fix your driver's door pin. It may just need cleaning to make a good ground and connect to the wire. The door pin wire is BROWN / white (-) at the alarm module behind the headlight switch. The parking brake wire should be BROWN / yellow
(-) at the parking brake switch.

thanks Sparkie...

I just noticed on the install guide that there is one wire that I am not sure about.  It says "out when running (-)"

Here is the diagram http://engines911.com/asdocs/AS-1260_wd_en_h100s100v101_001115.pdf

The unit was given to me and I think some of the wires have been modified.  Number 8 (orange) is not there...  but then 10 has an orange wire.  11, 12, 13, 15 and 16 are all gone also.  Should I hook up the number 10 wire, which is orange... and if so, to what?
