I have a 96 Ford explorer with a DEI Valet 551R remote start in it. Everything seems to be functioning properly, however the doors unlock and stay unlocked when started from the remote. This worries me, as it leaves the vehicle vulnerable to people trying to get in. Has anyone heard of this before?

Do you have the Key Sense wire connected?
Also just checking..............Is the Lock & Unlock wire from 551 reversed?

assuming 551r w/ factory unit:
sounds like you used unlock as an activation trigger. if its the case, then use lock instead. however, ur key fob will be disable after RS.

Key Sense wire?  Not sure what that is.  The lock/unlock wires aren't reversed, but I wonder if that would help.  Wouldn't that just make the doors lock every time it remote starts?
