I have a 2000 Malibu, with no factory installed remote.  In 2000, I had a viper 600ESP installed, with a 551t valet and 555t passlock bypass module.  It worked for about 3 years.  The car battery leaked, and ate up the power wire and main fuse for the security system.  I replaced the fuse holder and power line, but the fuse would blow after a few remote starts.  I increased size incrementally up to 30.  At that point, remote start stopped working altogether, though the fuse was good.  I left it alone, since the security system and locks worked, until this weekend.  I finally tore apart the dash to start looking around, and found the 3 modules and numbers.  Each has power.  The car will remote start with the key in "on".  Without the key, I hear 3 clicks and nothing, except occasionally the car makes its standard tone.  I did note the 555t gets warm during normal start, but not during attempted remote starts.  Probably normal.  I believe the 555t bypass is bad, but before I pursue replacing it, I am wondering if there is something else I should be checking to verify.  The wires look fine, but I'm not sure what the outputs off of each should be.  I do not appear to have a local DEI dealer, and no longer live in the state where it was installed.

Also, what size fuse should I expect to be using for the total security system/remote start load from the battery?

I found the 551l manual on this site, I'm guessing the outputs are the same.  It will give me a few more things to check, just wish I hadn't already buttoned up the car.  Still, any tips or experience will be appreciated.
