98 chevy k150 passkey

help i have a customers 98 chevy k150 that will not except any pass key reprograming procedures is ther a way to disable or trick the system i replaced the ignition switch customer is on a tight budget and does not want to rebuild or replace the steering colum any help would be appreaciated

It has Passlock, not Passkey. What reprogramming procedures have you tried?

i have tried the gm recomended prociedure clear all codes turn key to the startpos momentarilly thenleave key in the run pos for 10 mins turn key to off for ten secs and repeat 2 more times after 4th cycle the engine should start but it doesnt ive checked all other areas of the truck ie fuel spark etc all are ok in a previous post probablly a year ago some described a way to overide passlock by installing a resister in the wiring thanks
