My brother bought a keyless entry/alarm system (BullDog I think or something like that) and I told him i'd put it in, no problem, being that I usually have no problem with mobil electronic type stuff, but this thing has me stumped, as I have never messes with security systems or maybe I'm just having a huge brain fart...

I cannot seem to figure out what kind of lock switch tis ting has. The maunal is almost NO help, as it says most Ford automobiles have one type of lock, but some Ford trucks may have another, but it doesn't look to me like it has ANY of them listed in the instructions!!! Also, I do not know where I am supposed to hook into the harness at for the keyless entry, I cannot find the right wires that I need. I have the module hooked up and working, the remote makes the module click when you press the button, and the alarm siren will go off if you hit panic, but I cannot get the lock to work right.

Please, if anyone has messes with this vehicle before, I really would like to get this done for him as I told him I would/could do it. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

-Matt

Your 1997 F150 could be one of two types of door locking systems, hence the confusion on the type. If the truck came with factory keyless entry it is a negative trigger, if it did not come with keyless from the factory it is a 5-wire system. You can find a wiring chart for that truck right here on the12volt.com if you click here. Going to this page will help you to understand how to test for the different door lock types as well as provide links explaining how to wire into those different types of systems.
Hope this helps.
