I'm currently working on a 1998 DOdge Dakota non-R/T model, installing a DEI Viper 550 alarm/remote starter. I have everything working properly except the door locks. The wiring diagram says its a ORANGE / purple & a pink/purple. I hooked them up to the alarm but no matter which way I go the doors only lock. I can apply 12v to the unlock wire in the door and it even locks it!! I tested it with a MM and it shows 12v when the unlock button is pressed. What is going on here? I can sometimes get it to unlock if I tap it twice like it needs a double pulse, but when set alarm is set to double pulse it just locks it twice. Anyone ever have this problem?

You need to reverse polarity on the unlock wire. Did the truck have a factory keyless system? If it did it's a CHRYSLER 3/5 wire Door Locking System, if not and it just had power locks they are type A.

Good luck.

As Jasondavis05 has said, you have positive trigger lock and 5-wire unlock. Follow just the unlock side of this diagram for your truck.
