Would like to know more on radar sensor choices before deciding which one to purchase. This sensor will be wired to the pager only and the alarm itself so it will be silent signaling to my pager. What would ba a good and reliable choice? DEI, Crime Guard, or other brands? Does Alpine have any radar sensor that can be adjusted itself (does not require Alpine alarm brain) and wired to the pager.

DEI has the 508D and Clifford has the Proximity Sensor III.

Both are universal type.

Radar sensors operate in the 2.4 GHz frequency and are not immune to localized interference and might false (no matter the brand) - just ask anybody who has a 2.4 GHz wireless phone. Go easy on the adjustments.

It will be no siren or light signals from proxy sensor because it will not be wired to the alarm only to the pager, I just want to be alerted via pager when something is close to the car. the alarm will have shock, glass, tilt sensors that will alert me via pager as well. So I'm planning to have a pager that shows 2 violation zones, one alarm and the other zone proxy sensor.

What is your opinion on DEI 508D? I read some web report that this is hard to adjust and it falses too much and that Crime Guard AU94T is much better compared to 508D. Crime Guard has newer one AU94TM but I have to hear more opinions on this sensor. Clifford Proximity Sensor III is something that I might consider as well, is this any better than DEI 508D?

And one last q?: did Alpine make any proxy-radar sensors that can be used as universal types?

I don't have personal experience with Crime Guard. Yes 508D can false if set too high.

i got a code alarm unit off of eebay for 20bucks shipped from a local guy. it works great, btw.

By any chance did you measure the current draw of that code alarm prox sensor on standby? It looks good, but I was wondering if there'd be any problem with installing it on vehicles that sit for long periods without driving.
