compustar 2wss as 2wssr remote problems

I recently broke my 2-way remote (screen stopped working, communication with the brain only happens about once every blue moon) and bought a used one to replace it. I can't seem to program it though. When I insert the battery into the remote, nothing happens. I get the clicks from the car indicating the start and end times but nothing else. I've also tried putting hte battery in during that time and pressing I.   I've also left the battery inside hte remote and press I. I've noticed that whenever I put the battery in and press any of the buttons, the remote itself will beep, the light flashes and all of the little icons on the screen also flash. Is there something wrong with the remote? Do I need to somehow unprogram my old remote? I can reprogram my old remote into the system fine; the car will click whether I insert the battery in or press I within the allotted time.

Well with the SS remote you need to put the key into the ingintion and to the off postion. So basically your lighting up your accessory light on the instrument cluster 5 times fast within 10 seconds. Then after hearing the first click, insert the AA battery into your remote and wait. You should see the remote trying to communicate with the system. Pressing a button cancels the programming. So if it does not program. And your old remote does. that means you have a bad remote. If you insist that the remote is good. Try unplugging your antenna wire and plugging it back in. word. I suggest you use a 2w900fmr and a ant-2w900fm. better. word"dont ground out!"

What were your results(to the original poster). Sounds like a bad remote to me. I suggest you go with the Pro-2wssr!

I'm guessing it's a bad remote but I haven't had the chance to go get another one yet (so expensive!). I've also been eyeing the new pro 2wssr's...I can install that with my pre-existing wiring for my 2wss-as right?

No, that is not reccomended. The new Pro 2WSSRs are totaly different. The ANT is smaller and has "ovalish" like features. You'll

Well upgrading from a non pro brain to a pro brain. Like a cm3000 to a cm4000 is a very easy upgrade. I suggest you look into it. Most the wires are the same. You just have to use a pick tool and get it crackin."dont ground out!"
