passive lock with valet 712t?

I installed a Valet 712T Keyless entry on my 1994 Chev S10 pickup.  It works great but lacks one feature that I sort of thought it would have... passive locking.  The install manual says it can do this with the optional Failsafe starter kill relay installed but it does not show how to connect or exactly what parts are needed.  I can't find this part sold separately anywhere.  Can anyone help?

I see that Viper (also DEI) has a 211 HV keyless entry that has passive locking.  Would my existing 712 harness plug up to the 211hv module or are the wires/connectors different?

I also installed the 712T in my car and also noted the manual stated that it features passive locking. Well, I think it's a typo, because there's no way that you can program the unit that way.
I was also a bit disappointed that it didn't have this feature on-board, although I'm almost certain that with a relay or two, it could be accomplished.
I have heard the module clicking about 30 seconds after I've switched off the ignition, leading me to suspect that it's the passive arming mode. I need to confirm whether the starter kill is actually activated then - I suspect it's probably activated through the ground when armed circuit on the 712T module.
However, you really want to risk getting your keys locked inside your car accidently passive lock with valet 712t? -- posted image.?

I have had Clifford passive arming alarms since 1984 so I am used to the routine.  But I have managed to leave the keys inside twice.  Once was when I did it intentionally when the remote was separated from the keys.  But then the battery died and couldn't make even one more pulse. :-/  But the last instance was a loooonng time ago.

I wish I could see the wiring diagram for the Viper 211V to see if the connector is set up the same as the Valet 712T. I bet it is the standard DEI connector but maybe the wires are in different positions.  If so, they could be rearranged.  But I can't find the insatll manual for the 211HV anywhere online.  I wish soimeone would post it.

Does the 712T have the 4 dipswitches under the door on the module?  It SHOULD have passive locking.  The clicking you hear may be the dome light convenience relay after the 30 second delay.

There is a jumper under the door to select + or - for the dome light supervision.  I don't recall any dip switches there but I didn't look that closely since the manual didn't mention any.  Maybe someone can check for us because I don't want to disassemble my dash again to look.

OK, from a 1990 DEI 712T Manual....  two jumpers  Yellow (ignition lock) Red (passive/active)  (cut=active mode)

I dont know if this is yours though, you say theres a +/- jumper?   Whats the date code on the module?, that'll help

Actually the jumper is to select between + and - parking light flash output, not dome as I said above. 

I don't have the module number.  I'd have to disassemble the dash to find it.  But it is a recent purchase so should be a recent iteration.

I recall the one jumper as stated above.  No dip switches mentioned in the installation manual that I recall, but  can't put my hands on the manual now to double check. I may have lost it. :-/

Interesting that the Owners Guide (not install manual) states that "If power locks are connected the system can be programmed to automatically lock the doors in 30 seconds".  But on the page that actually discusses programming options that is not listed.

Typically DEI systems turn these features on and off by a specified number of flicks of the valet switch.  I think the 712T probably can do it but for some reason just isn't listed in the manual.   If we just knew how many flicks (in this case presses) to do....

It gets wierder....  I found my install manual and under the section about transmitter learning it walks you through programming for Passive Arming!  But..... it looks like it is basically a tutorial on programming features in general with the right combination of valet key presses to select the feature to be programmed, and they happen to use Passive Arming as the example of feature 1 (one press of te valet button).  But in the table of programmable features on the very next page feature 1 is actually ignition controlled locking (doors lock after 3 seconds after start) NOT Passive Arming.  And Passive Arming is NOT one of the 8 features listed there!

My guess is that they just cut and pasted the how-to-program from a system that has passive arming as feature 1, unlike the Valet 712T, which I am beginning to believe doesn't have it at all.  I am wized.

To shed some light on this,  I reviewed the manual and found no passive arming at all.  This is the manual that I have seen on the directechs website

I was talking about the Install Manual above.  That is not available on the DEI websie.  But the Owners Guide on the DEI website (and that also came with my system) does indeed mention passive arming in at least 2 places.

From page 8:

The system can also be programmed to arm the optional Failsafe®

Starter Kill automatically (called Passive Mode). If the system has

been programmed for Passive Mode, the Failsafe® Starter Kill will

automatically activate 30 seconds after the ignition has been

turned off. After the ignition has been turned off, the status LED

will flash rapidly to indicate that the system is in Passive Mode.

If Passive Mode has been programmed on, then it is also possible

to program the system for Passive Locking. With Passive Locking,

the vehicle doors lock automatically at the same time that the Failsafe®

Starter Kill is activated. If Passive Locking is programmed on, care

must be taken to prevent the keys from being locked in the vehicle.

From Page 14:

Power Door Lock Control: Your system is capable of controlling

many types of power door lock systems; however, some door lock

systems may require extra parts. Consult with your dealer to

determine which type of locks your vehicle uses. If power locks

are connected, the system can be programmed to lock the doors

automatically 30 seconds after the ignition has been turned off.

The system can also be programmed to lock the doors when the

ignition is turned on and to unlock them when the ignition is

turned off.
