07 tahoe w/fact rem start adding alarm

I have a 07 Tahoe with the factory remote start. My question is when adding an aftermarket piggy back alarm system off of the factory set up such as an AL100h by omega what can you do so when you remote start the vehicle the alarm will not go off.

Since the OEM remote start is part of the vehicle and built into the BCM, it is not something that can be done. There is no way to tell the alarm that the ignition turning on is from the remote start and not from someone trying to steal the car. Bypassing the shock sensor is also a problem. If you were willing to disarm the alarm, remote start the car, and then rearm the alarm then it could work. That is assuming the alarm allows arming when the ignition is on. I would never do that in my own personal vehicle. You best best is to add a stand alone alarm and a bypass module that can control the OEM remote start. There is a description on how it can be done on DEI's forum if you are a member there. I think the module they use is the 1701g, but that is going off memory and it may be a little differnt.

JWorm you are 100% correct.  Use an aftermarket two way alarm/remote start and a 1701g and it will work.  The 1701g also controls other functions of the vehicle.

That's not exactly what I said. I said to use an aftermarket alarm (with its own remotes), not an aftermarket alarm/remote start. The aux. channel of the alarm triggers the bypass module which starts the car. It can be done with a DEI alarm, but I'm not sure about others. The alarm needs the ability to ignore the ignition input and shock sensor after using the aux output, or else the alarm will be triggered. I'm not sure if other company alarms can do that. I don't believe Compustar can. Those are the only two companies whose product I am currently familiar with. Other option is to just use an alarm/remote start and forget the OEM remote start is even there. The above option is cheaper, and less wiring.

Do you want the alarm to make the car itself hard to steal, or just to protect the contents inside the car? If you just want to protect the contents-----that is, you want things like a shock sensor, and an alarm that will sound if the doors are opened, that should't be too hard. Get yourself a Hornet 700T or Automate AM1 (both made by DEI), because these units automatically disarm themselves when the car's ignition is turned on. (I have NO idea why they'd make an alarm that way, but they do.) This way, when the car is off, the alarm will be working, protecting the car. The only small downside is that when you operate the remote start, the alarm will be turned off. On the other hand, if you want the alarm so that you can make it harder to steal the car, that would be a lot harder to integrate with the factory remote start. I like JWorm's idea----buy an aftermarket alarm with the features that you want, with its own remotes, and buy the separate part to let the aftermarket alarm activate the factory remote starter. Also, www.bypasskit.com sells a system which consists of remotes and an antenna..........to activate the factory remote start but with longer range.........it's possible that their system lets you also add an alarm, although I'm not sure. Worth a look, though.

Here's a good question.. Has anyone checked an OEM remote start to see if it fires up the ignition wires @ the ignition switch? (ign, and acc?) I notice the OEM remote starts do NOT turn on the cluster (ie tach etc) so I'm thinking those wires might not do anything and even finding the ignition signal may be difficult. We've run this request through our heads a few times and find more possible issues than solutions unfortunately. I think you would be better off adding just a shock sensor to the OEM alarm, which yours has. Is there something else about the OEM alarm that you don't like?
