This has been bugging me for a while now. I can't seem to figure out the problem. My laptop is starting up by itself after I put it into hibernation mode. It doesn't start right away but after it sits. I didn't change anything (that I know of).
I'm running Vista Home Premium. I know there are some people on this forum that can help me out.

Oh yeah, one more piece of information.
It starts after it sits 6 hours on the dot. That should help narrow down the possibilities.
Windows update is off (that I know of).
It only does this in hibernation mode. If I completely turn off my laptop it doesn't have this problem. And no, I don't want to have to turn my laptop completely off everytime I'm done using it.
*I just realized I should have just edited my first post...my badmy laptop keeps starting automatically -- posted image.

Go into the Bios and also in control panel under power options.  There are several things that can be turned off.  Turn off every "Wake On" option.   There is probably a Wake On ethernet, Wake On Modem Event and maybe others.  Turn them all off.

I forgot to mention that I did that previously with no success.

It is an HP. That is exactly the problem I am having. Don't have the touch screen or anything like that.

We're half way there, I know it's an HP. And I know it is not a touch screen.
Are you running Windows Vista?
In Device Manager, Under Network Adapters, What Ethernet Controller is listed, also what brand is the wireless adapter?

It is Vista Home Premium 32 with SP1.
Ethernet is Realtek RTL8101
Wireless adapter is Intel 4965AGN
It's an HP Pavilion dv6000 series.
This is a really odd problem. At first I was thinking it was my wireless adapter that was causing the problem but I checked everything and turned it off when I put the computer into hibernation mode and it still had the problem. I ruled that out, and especially when I saw it started after sitting 6 hours every time. I talked to HP and they said to turn off Windows Update, which did nothing.
I checked device manager for all the "wake on" devices and found nothing.
I have been at another location the last couple of days and it hasn't had a problem once. This is making me think it is something with my wireless adapter again.

Bluetooth is an option on that unit. Do you have bluetooth? I read a couple things about the unit but did not notice if there was an Infrared Port on the unit. If it has Infrared, try covering the sensor to see if that helps. I have seen cases where the operating system failed to write to the bios, go to device manager and enable the wake on feature on both adapters, restart if it wants to. Then go back and remove the checks, restart again.
