He's baa-aack! Seems to be just in time for Christmas!
I really just had to say something, we seem to be falling into our annual regular rut...
It truly saddens me to see some of the responses that have arrived lately.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Bad advice, incorrect data and wrong-headed notions are normal on the Internet, unfortunately.  It saddens me when we learn that some of these people are actually working in the business.  Oh well, maybe fixing all the bad installs and replacing all the garbage-bin equipment being recommended by those who don't know what they're tlaking about will cause an increase in business for the good shops.

I agree with that. Just moving from a small town to San Jose, I have really gotten an education about how many people (that call themselves installers) don't know squat. I know, & have known for quite a while, the industry needs a thinning out. & with newer tech., the hack shops are gonna mostly go under in the next 5 years, howeven I doubt the flea market brands will ever go away.

Now we have the internet, with folks that are very well book read offering information that is applied only in theory, & they essentially have no experience actually using that theory.

AND, we have people putting stuff in cars, that don't know WHY it works, but just know if there 2 wires get put together it turns on.

Finding people that are both educated in 12V electronics, & theory, & have the ability to use it is getting very scarce. I guess the real question is why? ME mag just did a pay scale, & for installers $16hr is usually attained after a couple of years & most places are now offering bennifits. So, pay is decent (not that of an electrical engineer, but better than micky D's). So, why are good people so hard to find?

used to be loud, used to be fast...now I am married LOL

I have not posed anything in a long time, so I know it is not me. I have had to take a break from the "does not listen to good advice monster." Unless it is like a jeckyl and hyde thing and I am posting under a different name at night... and for the record, my post that got locked in the "off topic" forum could not have been any farther off topic and really should be open still. So how do you bypass the ebrake wire anyway?here we go again -- posted image.

(please don't ban me)

Wow Dave I forgot about that "Monster" I once created in that mad scientist lab known as an install bay! I agree it has got a little sloppy here lately. Time to straighten up and fly right and new members, please read the forum rules before you post.
Now "Monster", back in your cage, back, back, BACK.................
There is no such thing as free installation!
