Power mirrors down with reverse

Hello all, I own a 95 Honda Civic Ex and would like to make the mirrors tilt down when i put the car into reverse, like on the high end european cars like Mercedes and the such. I was thinking of using relays so that when I throw it in reverse the switch for the back up lites activates the relays and makes the mirrors tilt down, but then i need them to come back up to the way they were. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance.

You are going to need two Pac TR-7. Which is a programmable latching unit, which will take a 12volt source input and put out a 12volt or a ground. Or do the same thing for a ground source input. You can go to http://www.pacaudio.com/products/alarm.htm and it will give you a lot more info on the product. The triggers I would use for the TR-7 are the reverse wire like you mentioned. Also if I am not mistaken there should be a light that tells you when you are in drive on your instrument cluster. So there should be a wire that would be sent to the cluster for the light to light up and you can use that wire for the trigger so that the mirrors can go to a drivable position.

wow, thats gonna take some work i think, not impossible though, i think the only way you can really do this is to use a microcontroller (single chip computer) or a whole lot of discrete components, The problem is i dont think the mirrors have any type of sensor in them (like one to shut the motor off when too low, too high..) you might have to sense current to shut the motor off, sure you could time it and shut it off at after a specific time but i think the only way to get them back up is to know how long it took going down and use that time to put them up.
