Does anyone know how to do this?

I want to make my laptop control a relay so that I can turn on and off my remote wire to my subs/neons etc... I have a toggle switch to turn it on/off right now but I also want the laptop to control it so I can say, "look at this." I've asked around at a few car audio stores and no one seems to know how to do it, can anyone help?

Any help is greatly appreciated

The easiest way is to use a PIC system that plugs into the serial port of the computer system.

The PIC is a mini programable IC, which has a small area of grids so as you may plug in various small 22 guage wires.

From there, you simply write up your line of code with the supplied software, and then actuate the relay(s), which are attatched to the neons you wish to enable.

This is just one way of doing it. There are probably alot more ideas in doing this simpler, and at a lower cost.

i used an old printer, jimmied it up with a relay, wrapped'er in duct tape and flush mounted the dot matrix under tha seat. Only problem is, when i hit my left turn signal it goes, GGRRRIIINNNDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, it's kinda loud..... Maybe i shoulda used a bubblejet.......laugh

That is an excellent alternative to the PIC system, at a much lower cost.
