good day all, sounds funny but I would like to keep the car original if possible.

the previous owner hot wired in a 12 ignition in this car, 49 dodge. I have a 6vlt ignition switch and want to convert back to it. It was cut at the battery, and all charging wires removed (it was just to start the car).

the original wiring diagrams I have found are hard to read, the wires are all the cloth covered style and the colors not recognizable. I,m am looking for help in the basic re-wire of the ignition, generator, coil, voltage regulator.

this is the one thing I am just not good at.

thx in advance, Rich

Everything is gonna be wired the same way a 12v system is and you can use all new wires or existing wire. the only difference is, that you are going to use a 6v battery and 6v generator.

let me be more specific, how about the connection poles on the back of the ignition switch, unforunately the 6volt is not marked. Also, the regulator, generator is all there but none is hooked up, he just hot wired an ignition switch to start it and move it around....

how many poles are on the switch?  three? do you own a DMM? can you post a pic of the back of the switch?

also a pic of the regulator and generator would help alot. i can give you explicit instructions that way.

well, here is the best I could do in the dark:

Ipretty much figured out the volt regulator. The horn relay is rigyt next to it and I,m pretty sure its straight forward also.

The ignition switch is the help I need, obviously the "coil" I understand, I,m assuming it goes to the neg side of coil.

thx again for the time, this is the last step before its really road worthy:

photos were to big, resizing them made them to small, trying my 1st try of an image host.

if they don't work, I can e-mail them.
