OK, I am new here and I hope I am posting this in the place. I have a Dodge Dakota SLT 2001. I has power windows that i want to re-wire. I am wanting to fix it so I do not need the switch key to work the power windows. There are ways I was thinking on do this. I could somehow bypass the ignition switch and have the windows work at anytime or maybe I could add a relay and a push button so they would only work if I held in the push button and used the window button. A two handed operation but I like that better then just running them straight to the battery. Any help would be nice.

Straight to the battery via a fuse.
Roughly 15amps per window.
The button and switch method will drive you mad, try it whilst driving but plan to be near an A&E.

Further thought the power supply going into driver's door, when you find which one is the window + feed on ignition, cut and run to the inside fuse box battery feed, join there adequately fused.
Last option, some vehicles used an ignition controlled relay in the supply chain, just bridge across the and 30 switch contacts.

That ignition controlled relay in the supply chain is my target if my truck has one. When then the engine is running it would work like it always have but I could remote trip it when the key is off by a push button. This is a Dodge Dakota SLT 2001. Do you know where I can get a wiring diagram for the power windows?

I have tried that before. I found wiring diagrams for everything but what I was looking for. I will try again.
