Hi,
My name is Chris Webster and I'm trying to figure out how to remove a factory alarm from a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. The original owner has stated, to me, that this problem has been in existence since it was first bought. As of today, the alarm will not allow the truck to be started and that has happened relatively recent. I have seen on Youtube a means to disable it altogether was a purple with pink racer wire down on the drivers side should be permanently grounded. I tried that and it didn't work so that avenue is wrong. Another source on Youtube says to remove the module completely, but there are two wires needing to be grounded out before the alarm will be disabled. Do you happen to have a diagram of the 21 pin connector to the alarm in order for me to distinguish which leads are to be grounded out and allow for the truck to start before taking the module out of the system completely. I have also found out that upon removing the factory alarm there may need to be use of a new wiring harness in order to achieve the process. In accordance with your website I found out it could be purple with a yellow tracer to disarm the system itself.
Please help if you're able and if not let me know,
Chris Webster

I don't have any pin-out diagrams for the factory alarm, but try applying a negative pulse to the violet with yellow trace wire in a black connector located behind the driver's side kick panel, then try starting the vehicle.
~wirewise~ Verify all wiring with your meter before making any connections!

Grounding that lead hasn't worked either. Although, I believe I have a theory to achieve good end results. I'm going to test that theory sometime today I hope. It's going to take a clear mind in order to break the system. I'll let you know my results if it proves to be correct.

I can't seem to find the fuse location between the steering column and the left kick panel. I do see a wiring box with a bunch of wires coming out, but I don't see any fuses. When originally purchased it was wired for most everything trailer, phone, etc. Could it be there's too many wires that aren't being used any longer?

My attempt to correct the situation today was reconnect the battery, do the key turn three times in each lock to disarm the alarm to get into the Jeep then do the three turn in the ignition to reset, disarm the alarm to the ignition. It worked insofar aa I got a click to the ignition, that's all. I tried again, but nothing and in the fuse location on the right-hand side of the dash I found a 15 amp fuse blew. It was fine when I checked them all yesterday. I believe there's another fuse that blew and I just can't see the fuses in the lication between the brake and left kuck panel to dind which fuse may have blown.

Update to this problem. I left the battery negative terminal disconnected, last night, because of possible loss of another battery. I hooked it up to move the electric seats in order to remove them, both drivers and passenger sides. As I was removing them and had to reconnect the position block on the sides of the seats there was no problem with hooking up the passenger side, but the drivers side when I connected the negative terminal gave out a whole lot of sparks.
Taking an educated guess, I'd have the tenancy to lean towards that drivers side seat adjustment block has a negative grounding out to a hot lead. I just hope that's the only problem I find as I go through this. BTW, the system did reset itself over night.

So far I haven't seen any other problem, but the one I figured out. I believe I know the answer. Under the drivers seat there is a connector to operate the motor to move the seat. On the top side of the connector to the motor I found a few leads that weren't seated correctly. I'm pretty sure that because of movement and vibration they have been touching and forcing the alarm to activate.
Quality Assurance hasn't done their job very well!!! I will be checking further just to make sure everything is good from there.
