Can someone help me understand where the tac wire is on a 2000 Durango? My diagram says 'passenger side of engine'. That was probably correct for 99 when there was a singe coil. The 2000 has 8 individual coils. Is it acceptable to get a tac reading off an individual coil for remote start? If so, does it matter which coil? Thanks in advance.

With the use of individual coil packs and multi-point fuel injection it has become common to obtain the remote starter Tach signal from one of these locations. The main issue is if the remote start unit has been designed and engineered well enough to be able to use one of these signals. My info on your vehicle suggests that a fuel injector is a possible source. Here is that info :
Tach Signal     NOT BROWN\WHITE      ANY FUEL INJECTOR
Which also answers your second question. Use any Fuel Injector that is convenient.
Soldering is fun!

I am getting voltage readings as high as 32 volts AC on the individual coil wires and fuel injector wires. My installation manual says I should be seeing 1-6 volts AC. I am installing a Viper remote start. How do I know if my unit will handle this kind of voltage. I have installed many remote start units, but his is my 1st multi coil/multi injector install. Thanks for any help.

This issue has been resolved. The higher than expected voltage was not a problem.

It is actually a pulsating DC voltage. It is impossible to get an accurate voltage reading in that situation. Different meters will give different readings. As long as the readings go up and down proportional to engine speed, you have the right wire. As You already know.

In future use an LED probe if it's flashing and the flash rate increases with revs you're done, forget a meter.
So much faster.
