Heres the story...I bought a 2000 cavlaier a couple of years ago but recently noticed a factory error. I'd like to fix it myself so I don't have to deal with the dealership.
Problem: When the car (automatic) is put into reverse, the reverse lights do not come on. However when the windshield wipers are turned on, the reverse lights come on. Seems like someone hooked the wrong wires together. If I can follow the wires from the trunk to the front of the car, where do I connect them to so they work correctly when in reverse? Please help if you can or send a wire diagram.

Hi, that sucks

well....i only know one of thge wires and the location but i'm sure the rest of the wires are there if you breakout to trusty multimeter, the positive reverse turnon wire for the reverse lights is a light green one on the transaxle. this will likely requre getting under the car..... hope this helps, good luck

Thanks..I traced the wire back to the bcm but haven't tried to get past that yet. I really don't know where the wire is on the transaxle since I have no idea what that looks like. I'll keep looking though. Thaks for the reply.

Well, I goes through the bcm straight to the wiper switch. I also have a 93 cav and the wire codes are tan, orange, purple and another color. There is no green wire on mine but again we are talking 7 years difference. I'm going to autozone after dinner to see if they have a chiltons book.
