Okay I have hunted for too long now.  I have checked #48 of 104 at ECM and also tried the wire that was not RED / grn at the injectors.

any help would be awesome.

I have also now tested #78 of the 104 at ECM as was directed by http://www.rostra.com

have you tried going to the coil ?     try pink white.

4.6 L -- Go to any of the 8 ignition coils and use the wire that is not RED / green.

5.4 L -- it's the lt. GREEN / WHITE at the coil on the passenger side of the motor between the fuel injectors.

Slice open the thick loom on the pass. side firewall and get the pink/wht coming from the PCM.  Works every time.

Thanks for the tips everyone.  Just for reference for other people:

There was no pink white wire in the f150 i was working on,

It is easier and works just as well to go to one eight coils and tap the wire that is NOT RED / green.

hope someone else benefits from this info.
