the problem is- im not sure what is keeping it from working:

i had to bypass the blown factory amp, so the preamps are spliced into RCAs and they run to the amp which powers the entire system.  the (changer's) eject function doesnt work and the head unit reads an error message.  i have to get this fixed,  please advise me.

thanks

Sounds strange I would say either there is no constant power going to the changer, or it isn't plugged in. Try reading what you have going to the changer itself on those I believe RED / yellow is usually constant power. And of course common ford ground would be the BLACK/ green. Regardless of the rest of the wiring if the RED / yellow has power and the BLACK/ green has ground, I would think it should eject the magazine.
Funny thing I went to a dealership once to check/replace a factory changer on a taurus. They've been working on it for a week and couldn't get it to work. Went to the trunk, plugged main power harness in (there is one plug that goes to the main RCU and a second one that contains the constant power), and watched the service manager yell at the mechanic for costing them almost $100 for the road call and 1 minute of work..
Also I'm assuming the changer worked before hand? The obvious would be make sure it's plugged into the back of the headunit, and the changer itself is plugged in. Check for any bent or missing pins in the plugs, etc..Also what error message does the head unit read? Also if you plug the changer in with the radio on make sure you turn the igntion off then back on or it won't recognize the changer. Good luck don't have a whole lot of advice besides checking the obvious.
