Hey guys,
Lots of good info here. Thanks to everyone for all the helpful information.
I'm wiring up an Autopage RS-860 in my wife's 2005 CR-V. Everything is going smoothly, except for the tachometer wire. I found the plug by the battery with 2 wells, one of which is empty and the other of which is a blue wire. This is supposed to be the tachometer AC voltage wire, correct? But when it's metered, it is 0VAC when engine is off. It spikes for a moment when the key is switched to ignition. When the vehicle is running, the voltage goes to around 15VAC and stays there, no matter what RPM the engine is at.
Is this a red herring? Is there another better/correct way to wire the tachometer signal? (which is supposed to be between 1VAC and 6VAC at idle, right?)
Thanks again to everyone that posts info here.

Thats the wire i always use, never had a problem with the honda tach wires before, you will know if its working or not when you program the alarm for the tach signal

I have used this wire many times with no problems. if anything you can always use an injector wire. just find the one color that is not common with all the other injectors.
