Installing an AVIC D2 into 2006 Chrysler 300 with the 3.7L engine. I went to the right side of the firewall, pulled the PCM and to my suprise, instead of 4 plugs I have only 3! The furthest left plug is not there at all nor is there even a port for it. So I figure, let's check for that plug at the rear of the tranny like Velocity Motors said. No such plug here. For the time being, the customer is going without it (the gps signal is doing the job) but the accuracy is a bit slow. Anyone else have this problem or even a suggestion on how to make it work?

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

Just for clarification as I was working on this car also that plug is not in the PCM there are spots for 4 plugs but there are only three plugged in. The last plug (which is the 3rd) the pin 32 wire is not the dk. GREEN/ brown wire nor is it the VSS. hope this helps.

To my knowledge there isn't a VSS in any of the new Chryslers.  It is all ran through the CAN BUS data system.  There are adaptors out there (haven't used any yet) that allow you to get a VSS signal.  I think DEI has one, or is soon coming out with one.  I did a search for CAN BUS online and found a couple different companies that have them out already.

I still find it fairly odd that they are using CAN right from a wheel speed sensor for ABS....... Man, I gotta get one of these in here for a good old fashioned rippin' apart.

i just did an avic n-2 in an 06 300, it does not have a vss wire. it is ran through can bus. sound gate makes a can bus to anlog vss adapter but it is $200.  soundgate.com. you do not need to hook it up for the gps to work. the only thing it does it it enhances the features. (i talked to pioneer about it) hope this helps.

Yeah, had a feeling about that. I talked to an Eclipse rep today about finding a VSS solution for the car and he pretty well said in Europe the adaptors are more available because Mercs and Bimmers have the same issue. My advise to anyone else here is don't sell the Eclipse AVN 5435 as it will not move without the VSS wire attached. Pioneer will (got lucky there), but unless you upgrade to the Eclipse 5500 series, you's stuck.
