O.K. Take 3....
Hello all-
Total newbie so I apologize in advance for my naivety…
Hardware: Pioneer DVH-P7000, AVR-W6100 and GEX-P910XM into a ’96 4Runner.
Much to my surprise the install went smoothly and everything works so far, EXCEPT for the built-in dome lights on the flip-down monitor unit.
The flip-down monitor has 3 wires: dome light positive, dome light negative, and “door switch”. The dome light socket from the car has blue/white wire a BLACK/ silver wire (I think).
After studying the stock dome light’s function I figured that the blue/white wire is the +, the BLACK/ silver is the negative door trigger, and the – is just the chassis ground.
So I connected the unit as such. Now the built-in dome light on the flip-down monitor only works when switched to “ON”, and doesn’t work when switched to “DOOR”. (At least it stays off when switched to “OFF”.) Additionally just this morning I noticed that when flipped to “DOOR”, it seems that the flip-down monitor is energizing the system and telling the car that there is a door open. (????)
Am I correct to guess that the flip-down monitor requires a positive door trigger? Do I need a diode somewhere or a relay to convert the polarity of the negative door trigger?
Thank you.

The door trigger and the dome light both use the same wire ( BLACK/ WHITE at the driver's kick panel, harness going to the rear of the truck ). This is a (-) trigger system so you want to use the domelight negative wire. DO NOT use the positive domelight wire , just tape this one off. The door switch wire you will have to look at the manual to see what they are wanting as far as this wire is connected to. See if it requires a (-) input or a (+) input and for what reason.
