GREEN/ ORANGE is the speed sense wire. This wire is 4000 pulses.Found at the ECM behind the glove box. The reverse wire is for GPS  and also for rear camera activation.

The speed sense wire is to let the navigation system know your speed of the vehicle so  it can calculate ETA for arrival times on trips. The ECM will be a larger metal casing with large connectors with hundreds of wires coming out of it.

Yes it is neccessary. The nav relies on a system called "dead reckoning". What this means is that it will aquire your position by sattelite when it starts up and then switches to your vss wire, reverse wire, and a gyro inside the unit to tell you where you are. Reverse should be running down the running board.

I don't know the color, you can pull the tail light and find the color for the reverse light easy. Also your speed sense will go between ground and nothing when moving slow (I only roll the vehicle a couple of feet forward and reverse to find it).
