I'm currently in the process of installing an Alpine In-Dash LCD for a customer, we have recently run into the problem that while in park, you cannot open or close the unit, the shifter gets in the way, we have tried multiple things to get around it including trying to bend the shifter but all has failed, have any of you run into this problem if so is there a quick fix?? Thanks

with all the late models gm's, you have to end up pulling the shifter out of the way when the monitor opens.  Make you you set the monitor to not auto open & close.  You can have a metal shop bend the shifter a few degrees though.  With the 2003 & up which have a  double din opening, Ive been installing lots of kenwood ddx-7015 double din in dash monitors & they look factory!

Figured it out!! If you pull the shifter out and grind down about 3/4 inch or so it will clear the monitor perfectly. It was mostly trial and effort, grinding a little at a time.

I had the same problem with Brand new escalade. We ended up installing a headrest monitor in the factory radio location and then installed the flip out screen low in the center console so when it flips out the screen is about 3 inches lower than the headrest screen in the dash. The customer had big money and ddnt mind spending it. He just thinks its cool that he has 2 screens in his dash.
