hey there, well i jsut installed my n2 tonight and all the features work exept the xm part.  it seems to me that the xm box i have (gex-p10xmt) is not sending any info at all the the HU.  i say this because on the screen where you can choose radio, disc, xm, the only button i can push is the radio one.  the XM button is not lit up to even be an option.  I have checked the wiring 10 times and it all seems fine, does anyone have a suggestion for me, i have hit the reset button on it as well.  thanks for any help

You have the wiring harness on the tuner (yellow = constant +12v, black = ground) and the ip-bus connected to the properly colored ip-bus connectors, right?

I concur with Hybrid. Triple check and make sure you have the yellow lead going to a constant 12volt source. Make sure you have the P-bus cable in the right port on the XM Receiver(there is an in and an out, you want out). Also, make sure you have to P-bus hooked up and NOT just the data cable. And if you are not going to activate the Navtraffic portion of the GEX-P10XMT, do not bother hooking up the data cable. You will get an "XM Updating" message all the time if you do.

Will NavTraffic still work properly if you disconnect the data cable?

No.  Thats why he says this "And if you are not going to activate the Navtraffic portion of the GEX-P10XMT"

Is there any way to stop the XM updating message from coming up so often?  It would be nice to have XM update in the backgorund, even better if they came out with an update for the AVIC-N2 for this.

I got the V1.2 DVD disc for my D1. I only get Updating once, after I hit OK to the NAV legal disclaimer. It never appears again. I heard DVD 1.0 would say Updating over and over.
My D1 update paperwork said it was actually for the N2, so I assume they both have the same software, and this upgrade should solve your problem. Email Pioneer customer service, and they should send it for free.

Thanks Derek, I heard about the 1.2 version.  I was told that when I register my AVIC-N2 that Pioneer would send them out to me.  No word yet, so I think I'll call them up to see what's up.
