I've had the D1 for about 6 months now and tomorrow I'm going to run the NAV bypass.  Does anyone know if there is a way to use the camera full time while driving and not only when you are backing up?  I heard there was a way to do this with maybe hooking up a toggle switch to something?  Does the NAV and VID bypass work this as well?  Also,  I've had the I pod adapter for this since the begining and for anyone else who has it they know it's HORRIBLE!  Does anyone know if there is an update coming up or a new adapter coming to show a better I Pod display?  The guys at pioneer give me the run around whenever I email them asking if anything is coming out.  Last they said was it's not going to happen and only a hardware change would fix this.  This I'm assuming they mean to buy the new one when it comes out.

Thanks

If you change your navigation view to rear view split screen, you will have about 3/4 of the screen for back-up camera and 1/4 for the navi map even when moving forward.  As for the ipod, the D2 is exactly the same hardware so it won't be any better.  The new Z1 double din has a great ipod display, but its $2250

There are 10 types of people in the world, ones that understand binary and ones that dont.

I believe that's only with their Z1.  If you look on the website at the D2 it says the same as the D1,  "it recognized the IPOD as an unexpected host" or something along those lines.

Nope.  The D2 display is identical to the D1.  Saw it at CES

Ummm....Has the newer mapping data that they update every year.  More coverage on the maps, more navtraffic cities and more cities with detailed metro mapping

I got the same answer from Pioneer - it needs hardware changes. I don't believe it, all the commands and protocols are there, its just the UI sucks. Fix the UI and add dedicated buttons and you'll have mostly what everyone wants. Right now, the iPOD is not recognized as anything other than a generic device, which is why we need to use these generic function buttons. A D1 firmware change would allow it to recognize the IB100 and trigger a new UI.
Well, that is my viewpoint. Unless Pioneer really screwed things up and didn't plan ahead in their design. I am sure they want you to buy the Z1 instead. I paid $700 after rebate for my D1, so its hard to pay $2300 for the Z1.

What I don't get is how older head unit models that don't do navigation display the Ipod text just like it was on the Ipod screen but the newer more expensive nav system can't do it? Stupid in my opion.  But hey.  Atleast I can still control it from my steering wheel and it stays charged.  Anyone here have the steering wheel PAC box with the direct connect? I have infrared and it doesn't work all the time.
