So I just finished swapping my N2 out for my N3 and I must say the software upgrades are muy bueno. Pioneer resolved in my opinion most of the concerns of the N2. The Ipod display is night and day different, the XM display and controls are the same as the D1 was last year and the Sirius is recognized as Sirius. As a matter of fact all 3 of the above have their own icon. The sub display is right on point this year too. You actually get XM info display this year. You also get the "memo" button for storing your favorite songs from XM...when used with the GEX-P10XMT. I am very pleased with what Pioneer did this year with this unit.

Can you post a pic of the iPOD display now? Curious what they did to that worthless initial interface.
Thanks!

I just realized the N3 manual was probably on the pioneer site, and it was. I downloaded the manual and can see the iPOD screen, although its black and white. Looks like the iPOD LCD, with the progress bar on the bottom. Isee they have push botton navigation now - playlists, artists, songs, etc.
How fast is the interface? Are there delays when scrolling through artists, for example?

It comes with CNDV-60M software, version 1.0.
A couple other changes I failed to mention were all of the buttons are blue now, and the face is all black now. Subtle changes, but good changes.

ohlarikd, the Ipod interface is sooooo much nicer with the N3. It changes "tracks" very smoothly and quickly. You also get more of the Ipod feel from the display and with the way you can maneuver through your folders.

Interesting to note that the improved Ipod interface didn't require a new Ipod adapter (still using CD-IB100). This leads me to believe the improvement only required a software change; which makes it even more maddening that the D2 apparently doesn't have the new interface. Kudos to Pioneer on the N3 -- posted image.

Yes, Pioneer told me the D1 / D2 would need a 'hardware change' as well as software. I find that hard to believe. You can perform all the functions, its just a horrible UI and the IB100 isn't recognized as anything. Change the software to recognize it and throw up a nice UI.
Planned obsolescence.
